Master Artisan Satoko Sugino

Satoko Sugino is a certified Tokyo Master Artisan of Edo Tsumami Kanzashi, dedicated to bridging centuries-old techniques with modern artistic expressions. Drawing on her exceptionally delicate hand-skills cultivated as a nail and eyelash artist, she meticulously designs and crafts exquisite hair ornaments.

Passionate about sharing this cultural heritage, she hosts hands-on workshops for both locals and international visitors, offering unforgettable experiences through the art of Tsumami-zaiku. Her innovative works have earned global acclaim, including the Grand Prix at the “New York Art 21st Century Borderless Exhibition” and a Merit Award from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Officially certified as a Master Artisan in 2025, she now leads Kanzashi Sugino as its third-generation proprietress. Through her creations, workshops, and creative direction, she continues to protect traditional craftsmanship while proudly passing its beauty on to the next generation.
